Artist's Comments

This is one of two brand new oils I have made... It has been a while since I have painted anything in this style and I am rather pleased... The photo is not a 100% good unfortunately, I think it is because it is still wet...:D

Abstracts are not as easy as they look, because they have to go beyond the human experience of the world and still try to convey the world as it is felt...
In my experience abstracts have to felt when you paint them, and you have to let them take you somewhere... I do very poorly if I try to think or plan too much of a painting, so I usually start by selecting an approximate style and then lay out a lot of colors on my pallet.... I don't always use all the colors I go with the painting and I can feel in my heart when a painting is done, it just has a certain feel to it...

Just take a canvas, lay out some colors and just start and don't be afraid that what you make might turn out bad, that happens to everyone.... some of my best work I didn't like at first but the more I looked at them they grew on me and I found the qualities that are sometimes hidden in the experience of the painting rather than the appearance... So just go for and go crazy, see where it takes you, you might be surprised...:)

Thank you very much for your compliment

This came in twice but it's alright..

You are quite welcome, believe me I know how hard it is to trust what you do, that it is any good...

There is a lot of what I would call illusion about what art is supposed to be, and it is part of the process of creating art to break that illusion, so that it just becomes about you and your canvas... all that is supposed to find its way into the painting will and the rest should be left at the door.
For me it is the creative process and discovering the painting afterwards, to see what has come out of the process... Don't let the outside world dictate your creative process unless you want it to, don't let expectations stifle your creativity... The creativity is yours and in the process of creating you will discover many things, some you might only notice when you are done with a painting, others will come to you when you are in the process...Go for it, what is the worst that can happen...:)

I am glad that I can give some useful advice, I can wait to see what comes from your creative process...:D

OMG... i am so overwhelmed with your words...you are like a guiding light for not only me but to many others who may be going through a rough time in their life...feeling uncertain about the course they must take...kind of a "to be or not to be" situation... i am ever indebted to you friend...and yah, as time goes by, do tell me more...i will wait...
:iconsaraknudsen:
I don't know what to say... thank you...

I just try to pass on some things that has helped me, and I am glad that it can help others as well...:)

I know the uncertaity very well, but in time it can become a friend and not something to fear... There is much to be learned from uncertainty because it forces you to re-evaluate you perspective on things, and if used right you can use your uncertainty and confusion to grow from...

And thank you friend for allowing me to share with you...:)

Best wishes and kind thoughts
